Chinese nationals need a visa to travel to Finland. Visas issued are generally uniform Schengen visas (type C) and can be issued for the maximum duration of 90 days.
If the intended stay exceeds 90 days, a residence permit has to be applied. As a general rule a residence permit is needed for work even for shorter time.
A uniform Schengen visa allows travel to the following countries unless otherwise stated on the visa: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
Competent Embassy or Consulate of the country of the main destination in the Schengen area is the competent authority to deal with the uniform visa application.
If the main destination cannot be determined, the application should be made to the Embassy of the country in which the longest visit shall be. If the visits in different Schengen countries are of equal length, the first destination shall be the determining factor.
Visa applications of holders of Diplomatic, Service and Public Affairs passports should be submitted via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/FAO. Holders of ordinary passports are required to apply in person.
