Finland’s Minister of Finance Antti Rinne will visit Beijing and Chengdu in southwest China on 11. – 15. January. The visit is focused on the economic relations between Finland and China. The purpose of the visit to southwest China is to promote trade and investments and to strengthen the position of Finnish companies in these rapidly growing markets. The Minister will be accompanied by a business delegation in Chengdu.
The visit by Finland’s Minister of Finance Antti Rinne, who is also the Minister deputizing for the Prime Minister of Finland, begins in Beijing. On Monday, 12 January, he will meet with China’s Minister of Finance Lou Jiwei in Beijing. The Ministers will discuss e.g., China's growth model, urbanization as well as new opportunities for cooperation between Finland and China.
Finance Minister Rinne will also meet representatives of the Communist Party of China in Beijing. Minister Rinne is visiting China on an invitation by the Chinese Communist Party.
On Monday evening, Minister Rinne will transfer from Beijing to Chengdu, which is the capital of the Sichuan province in southwest China. In Chengdu, the Minister will be joined by a delegation of 12 different Finnish companies representing, among others, the machinery and construction industries and the environmental technology sector. This Team Finland visit to Chengdu is organised in cooperation with Finpro.
Chengdu has 15 million inhabitants and it is one of the world's fastest growing cities. Finland can benefit from China’s urbanization e.g. by offering environment-friendly solutions related to construction and traffic projects.
One of the main objectives of the Minister’s visit is to promote Finnish companies’ entry into southwest China's rapidly growing markets, as well as Chinese companies' investments into Finland.
Minister of Finance Rinne will meet city officials and local party leaders in Chengdu and also visit different company locations on Tuesday and Wednesday.
From Chengdu, Minister Rinne will transfer to Chongqing, another major center of southwest China. The Minister will meet with Chongqing authorities on Wednesday evening.
Minister of Finance Antti Rinne will return to Finland with his delegation on Thursday, 15 January.
