Minister of Social Affairs and Health Paula Risikko is heading a Team Finland visit of a Finnish corporate delegation to China on 3-6 May. Taking part in the minister's trip will be about ten companies in the field of healthcare, representing the best of Finnish know-how in health technology and the virtual caring sector.
China is a growing market for Finland, and the countries share many common challenges. One of them is an ageing population. Minister Risikko has been invited to be the main speaker at an important senior service fair, at which about 50 000 guests are expected.
The purpose of the Team Finland trip is to offer Finnish companies visibility on the massive Chinese market, and to promote Finnish exports in health and the caring professions to China.
The delegation accompanying the minister comprises a versatile group of Finnish companies specialised in health services and health technology. The first steps of the trip were taken already last autumn when Minister Risikko visited Shanghai along with a group of more than 40 Finnish companies.
"About ten percent of China's population are now over the age of 65, and services, equipment, and medicines for the elderly are very much in demand in the country. There are also moves in the country to improve home-based elderly care, and we can offer our know-how in this matter as well", Minister Risikko says.
In Beijing, Risikko will meet with officials including Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Yin Weimin. Included on the agenda of their meeting are bilateral discussions for a social security agreement.
