Finnish male-choir Viipurin lauluveikot perform in Shanghai and Nanjing as part of the Shanghai International Music Festival in April. Originally founded in Viipuri 1897 this choir is one of Finland’s oldest and has been actively promoting the Karelian culture both at home in Finland and abroad. In addition to upholding the Karelian musical tradition, the choir’s repertoire includes classic male choir pieces and other more contemporary music. Since 2003 the conductor of the 70 piece choir has been dir. mus. Urpo Rauhala.
