The Consular Sections of the Embassy of Finland in Beijing and the Finnish Consulate General in Shanghai assist Finnish citizens and foreigners permanently living in Finland with issues concerning consular services according to the Consular Act, and provide assistance to the aforementioned citizens in distress.
Consulate General in Shanghai also covers the provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Zhejiang, and the Embassy in Beijing covers the rest of mainland China. Embassy of Finland in Beijing is in charge of services in Mongolia. In matters concerning passports, consular services and visas the mission cooperates with the Embassy of Germany in Ulaanbaatar. In addition, Finland has an Honorary Consulate in Mongolia.
The Missions provide assistance and advice, and act as intermediaries in issues within their competence. Services include passports and notarial services, as well as forwarding information to the Finnish Population Information System. In addition to these services, the Embassy and the Consulate General inform Finnish citizens about travel safety and other travel circumstances in China and Mongolia, as well as arrange the early voting in Finnish elections in China.
Finnish missions cannot answer questions falling under the jurisdiction of Chinese or Mongolian authorities.
