Chinese listeners to vote for best Finnish

SANTA CLAUS SEASON'S GREETINGS SONG 2012

Joulupukki Kiinassa

The Finnish men's choir Semmarit, singer Saara Aalto and rock band Negative will all present their musical season's greetings to a many-million-strong Chinese audience right before Christmas, as part of the Chinese-Finnish Santa in China joint project. Finland-based media communications company Radio86 (radio86.com) and China Radio International
(cri.cn) are teaming up with the Santa Claus Foundation to organize an exclusive music contest. The online contest allows both European and Chinese internet users to vote for their favorite music video from among the three competing entries by visiting the websites.

Semmarit perform a famous Chinese song called Zhong Guo Ren. The song is a proud tribute to the Chinese people, their history and mentality. The music video was shot in China during the choir's 2010 concert tour and features a scene showing them performing on the Great Wall.

The second musical greeting comes from Saara Aalto in the form of her song Blessed with Love. The song made it to the 2011 Finnish national final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

This time, Saara will perform the song in Chinese, as she has studied the language for two years.

The third video features singer Jonne Aaron with his band Negative. They convey their greetings to the Chinese people with the song Believe from their latest album Neon.

At the beginning of each video, the artists present their own personal greetings to the Chinese audience under the theme 我们共有一个家园 ”We live together”. The competing music videos will be featured throughout the month of December on the websites of CRI and Radio86, on giant screens at Wanda shopping malls, as well as in other media channels.

The contest is sponsored by the Santa Claus Foundation's Santa in China 2011 project. The voting will open on Tuesday, 22 November after a press conference in Beijing. The voting ends on 21 December, 2011. The winning song will be officially named the Santa Claus Season's Greetings Song 2012. Result of the voting will be announced in Levi, Finland in conjunction with the opening of the “ICIUM - Wonderworld of Ice” theme park.
